My show at the Zanesville Museum of Art came down yesterday, and I picked all the work up today. It was a wonderful, exciting ride...one I am extremely proud of. I am very grateful to the ZMA for the opportunity, and to all my friends and family who supported me in this endeavor.
Now, back at Studio 202, I am ready to get back to the business of creating more artwork. I am currently working on 2 commission pieces, so they are keeping me busy for the moment. But, I am feeling the pull to perhaps stretch in a new direction. It usually takes awhile for me to incubate an idea. Stay tuned for more to come.
For now, I will bask in the memory of my first solo show.

Your show was an amazing one!!!! You should be so proud of yourself because we all are very proud. I love telling my friends that "my mom is kind of a big deal in the quilting world" Love ya mom!!
ReplyDeleteAhhhh, thanks Abby. I'm really very lucky and proud to have a daughter like you.
ReplyDeleteSusan, that's a big turning point--bringing down a show--because that incubation time--or fallow time is inevitable. I'm just coming through my own "cocooning" and the ideas are beginning to trickle in.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy basking!! I look forward to seeing what comes next.
Congrats, good friend! Super proud of ya!
ReplyDeletewhew! the end of a show- sometimes i can feel a little weird at the end of a big creative project and feel like "...now what?" so it sounds great that you have something new in the works already! :)
ReplyDeleteThere is a sense of loss...when we remove our works from a solo exhibition. It is as if we ask ourselves a question..."What is next on my road and journey?" For me it was similar to how I felt when I graduated many years ago from Kent State in 1975. Now i appreciate that each chapter closes to unfold to a new and challenging poem yet to be written. Have a safe and happy 4th! Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
ReplyDeleteThanks you guys! I really am feeling a bit "lost". You've helped me pin-point it a bit. And that makes me feel a little less so. Thanks, and hugs!
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteBittersweet....my favorite word....and aptly applied here. I can so relate!
Susan
PS Congratulations!
